I finally got my brake to quit dragging when I backed up on my HD. It actually wasn't the brake at all, the rear wheel was out of alignment. I had a new rear tire put on at a dealership by a (supposedly) certified mechanic and he mis-aligned the wheel and had the belt too tight. I re-aligned the wheel and reduced the belt tension and my brakes now work just fine.

The Savage has a similar system so keep this in mind if your brakes ever drag when backing up. Also remember that just because it's a dealership doesn't mean they do good work. Some dealerships hire untrained kids and let them work on "easy stuff" like changing tires and such then charge the customer full mechanic rates. I've only found one really good motorcycle mechanic in this area and he was too busy to put the tire on for me (he runs a one man shop). Next time I'll just wait until he can work on it.
